Hey all! For my first blog post, let me tell you a little bit about myself. I am a huge Philadelphia Eagles fan, however, I LOVE football more than any other sport...so any excuse to watch it, regardless of who's playing, is a good enough excuse for me :-) I played soccer most of my life, but was always jealous of boys who got to play football. In high school, I thought I could put my soccer skills to some good use and try to use it as a way onto the football field. I talked the football coach into letting me try out for a spot on the team as their new kicker. Unfortunately, I never made it onto the team.
But when it came time to look at, and apply to, college my number one criteria was whether or not the school had a good football team. My top choices came down to USC, Penn State and the University of Miami. (of course academics and the programs for my major were important, too) After a long debate, I ended up spending four amazing years at the U. I started at UM as a freshman in 2004 when our team was kicking a** as a new member of the ACC, beating Florida State and finishing the season 9-3. By the time I graduated in the spring of 2008, the team wasn't doing so hot :-(
I moved to NYC in the summer of 2008, knowing I'd be surrounded by Giants and Jets fans. Oh yeah, and a handful of Bills fans. I began working in a sports bar in the city and realized Manhattan is a melting pot for all teams' fans. While on the prowl for a job in sports writing, and eventually a career in sports broadcast journalism, I decided to start this blog. (Actually, my roommate suggested I start it because she is so sick of hearing me talk to her about football.)
Ladies...if you love football as much as I do, or you're an avid fan, or you're just starting to get into the sport and want to learn more, you've come to the right place. This blog is specifically for a female audience to learn more about the great sport of football, read about weekly NFL games, understand terminology and voice your own opinions about players, coaches and games. Feel free to ask questions and post comments. (Oh, and guys, feel free to check out this blog too!)
